Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: What is a record locator?
- A: A record locator is the 6 digit alpha character code found on your itinerary. You sometimes use this record locator to check in at the airport ticket counter or kiosk.
- Q: What if I don't have my record locator?
- A: No problem. If you don't have a record locator, you can manually enter a flight for TripCase to monitor. Select "Add a Flight" and enter your airline, flight number and date. Tap 'Save' when you are finished entering the information and TripCase will begin to monitor that flight for you.
- Q: I entered my record locator but my trip information is not showing what do I do?
- A: It might mean that the travel partner who booked your reservation is not yet a TripCase connected partner. You have a few more options to get your trip added. You can either forward your email confirmation to us or you can manually add your travel events. If you want to have us add your travel events, you can forward your email confirmation to trips@tripcase.com. This capability is still in beta so there may be a slight delay in processing your itinerary. If you would like to manually add your itinerary events manually through the phone, go to the Manage tab and then tap on the "Add/Edit" button. From there, tap on the event type you would like to enter. From there, you will be taken through a step-by-step process.
- Q: How do I manually add a flight?
- A: To add your flight, go to the Manage tab and then tap on the "Add/Edit" button. From there, tap on "Add a Flight" and enter your airline, flight number and date then tap 'Continue'. If your flight has multiple origins you will need to choose which one applies to your trip as indicated. Tap Save when you are finished selecting the information and TripCase will begin to monitor that flight for you.
- Q: How do I manually add a hotel or rental car?
- A: Tap the Manage button at the bottom on the app. Select "Add/Edit" in the upper right hand corner and then click either "Add a Hotel" or "Add a Car". You can search by your current location, a location you want or a location in your Trip. Tap Save when you are finished entering the information to store in your Trip details.
- Q: How will I receive updates to my trip?
- A: You will receive updates through your app in the MyTrips detail page. You'll receive different messages for your flight, including gate changes, delays or cancellations and baggage claim information. You will also receive check-in and check-out information for your hotel and car reservation if we have that from your record locator.
- Q: What is a Connection?
- A: A Connection is someone who you choose to receive information and updates from you or TripCase about your trip. You can send your Connections photos or notes from your TripLog as you travel. Your Connections will receive a link to view your posts and send you a reply. TripCase can also send your Connections flight status emails to help plan for airport drop off and pick up . Sign your Connections up for these updates by using the Flight Updates services icon on the Main tab or the Flight details tab.
- Q: How do I add Connections?
- A: You can add a Connection from the TripLog tabby first tapping on the row with the Connections icon. Then, tap the '+' in the top right. Select how you would like to add a Connection: Select from Contact List, Enter Email Address or Add from (existing) Connections. With every trip, you can select from a list of previously selected Connections or add new Connections . You can also delete or edit a Connection's email address on a per trip basis.
- Q: How can I delete Connections?
- A: You can delete a Connection by tapping the red icon to the left of their email address and tapping "Remove" when the red "Remove" button appears.
- Q: How long can I view my TripLog details?
- A: You can view your TripLog details on your phone application once you return from your trip for an indefinite period of time or until you delete your trip. This also applies to viewing your TripLog from the web.
- Q: Can I share my TripLog posts to my other contacts?
- A: You can only share TripLog post with people you've chosen as Connections. At this point, you can't share outside of your Connections, but we may open that up at a future date. Check back often for exciting product launch announcements.
- Q: Why do my navigational buttons disappear when I select MyTrips?
- A: Once you are on the MyTrips page, you must select the trip that you want the application to focus on. Once you are in that trip, TripCase will update you with any messages and alerts.
- Q: Why didn't I receive my registration email?
- A: TripCase sends a confirmation email to the address you provided during registration. Sometimes, a typo happens when typing from the iPhone. Other times, TripCase is not yet listed in your "safe list". To ensure you receive this email and future account related emails, please double check your spelling and add www.tripcase.com to your safe email sender list. If you notice your email is incorrect, send us a feedback request to change or re-register with the correct spelling.
- Q: How can I delete items from TripCase?
- A: To delete trips from the iPhone or iTouch, tap the red icon next to the trip name, then tap the red "Delete" button when it appears . To delete a TripLog entry, swipe that entry from left to right and the red "Delete" button will appear. Note: In both cases, there is no secondary screen confirming whether or not you want to delete the option, so only tap the red "Delete" button if you are sure you want to delete it.
- Q: Can I forward my confirmation emails to create a trip?
- A: Yes. You can forward your confirmation email to trips@tripcase.com. This feature is currently in beta and has only been optimized for flight events. The email parsing feature is getting optimized daily and will be able to handle new email formats and be able to identify more travel events over time.
